Q:

How do I know if I am good enough to play with Curtin University Soccer Club?

A:

So far, we haven't had anyone training with us who has been too good for the first team. Furthermore, we provide three other levels of mens team of varying levels and a second womens team. There has not been a player poor enough to not get a game in any team. Show up on a training session and see where you stand compared with our players!

Q:

Do you have different teams?

A:

Yes.

Mens First team, a very competitive squad for experienced players.

Mens Reserve team, feeder team for first team.

Mens Third Team A development squad in the social leagues. Players in this team are pushing for inclusion for the reserve team. Interchange substitution rules (rolling substitutions) are observed in this league, helping players out of form or recovering from injury.

Mens Fourth Team A new inclusion for 2009 as a result of the growing popularity of the club with casual players. This team is in a very social league and tries to ensure everyone gets some game time, regardless of prior experience. Interchange rules also apply in this league.

Women's Teams: Available to all women soccer players, there are currently two teams playing regular Sunday league matches. Structure of the teams is pending information from Football West about league structure (2008 season saw the teams in seperate leagues, however there is talk that 2009 may have a first/reserve team structure similar to the mens league.

Intervarsity teams: Both Men's and Women's, both trying to qualify for Australian uni games. Must be an enrolled Curtin Student to play. Teams selected on ability. [more info on our events page]

Q:

Costs? ( men + women )

A:

MEN and WOMEN

Weekly League Players (FULL season) : $200 (Guild: to be advised pending sponsorship for 2009) (Payment options and fund raising can be arranged.) A 10% early registration discount is available for players registered by the 1st of March.

League membership fees include insurance and registration with Football West. Covers all referees and match day fees. Season runs from April to September with over 25 games, that's roughly $8 for a couple of practice sessions and a game every week. All equipment other than boots and shin pads supplied.

Q:

What does the League membership fee cover?

A:

First of all we want to make one thing clear. We don't make any money on your membership fee! Just the registration cost alone to Football West is $110 leaving us with $90 to cover costs relating to hiring coaches, referee-costs and material-costs (balls, cones, shirts, shorts, socks etc.). If we could, we would reduce the fee, but we simply can't...

We know we might fail to secure great players because of the member fee, but we wouldn't survive without it.

Q:

What do I have to do to register with the club if I want to play Sunday league matches?

A:

Online registration will be available for 2009, however new players are encouraged to first try to show up on a training session to see where you stand compared to other players. If you find that you like our club and that you want to continue training with us and play Sunday league matches you have to pay the membership fee discussed above.
